Track 3 I Session 1: Imaginations for Postcolonial Futures
Information
Session Objectives
- Listen and learn from the voices, perspectives, and wisdom of Indigenous women movement leaders about their visions for decolonial futures.
- Create a dreaming space to collectively reflect and imagine what decolonial land, decolonial labor, and decolonial gender could look like if Indigenous women movement leaders’ dreams were made possible. For example, how do we tap into Indigenous knowledge and practices, both past and present, to imagine the future where practices are centered and inspire the change we want to see?
Session Description
Indigenous women leaders across the globe have storytelling and folklore narrative traditions that are rooted in decolonial and feminist analysis and have provided stories and solutions for healing, power building, and radical liberation. These ancestral and future-visioning practices are often interwoven in the ways Indigenous people around the world wage struggles for climate justice, labor rights, disability justice, and other freedoms. This session will not be a panel, rather it will be a collective imagination space guided by Indigenous weavers and allies to reflect, challenge, unpack how philanthropy can nurture and resource futures for all.
